TOPIK Level 2: what score do you need?
TOPIK I is scored out of 200 points, and the Level 2 pass mark is 140. 80 or more is Level 1; 140 or more is Level 2. There is no minimum per section — only the total counts.
How the score works
| Section | Questions | Points |
|---|---|---|
| Listening | 30 | 100 |
| Reading | 40 | 100 |
| Total | 70 | 200 |
TOPIK I has no writing section. Writing only appears in TOPIK II.
Grade cutoffs
| Grade | Total (out of 200) |
|---|---|
| Level 1 | 80+ |
| Level 2 | 140+ |
So Level 2 means clearing 140 out of 200 (70%). If one section is weaker, a stronger score in the other can still carry you over the line.
Why Level 2 matters
TOPIK Level 2 is used as the Korean-ability benchmark in several visa and residency steps — most notably the E-7-4 skilled worker visa and the Social Integration Program (KIIP).
